Anyone else into this series? It's such a shame it's taking forever to get any of the parts released outside of Japan. I mean, just look at the release dates. It took 15 years to get the first game released stateside and even that was the remake's remake, 2 more years to get the sequel ported and the first remake for PC is slated for 2014 release which clearly isn't happening even after 6 years of its Japanese release. As an aside, the original 1996 game was remade for yet another time (this time by fans) and that translation took 16 years.

GrisGris, 5pb and GrindHouse are still sitting on The Anthology (2012), Corpse Party 2 (2013) and Blood Drive (2014) so who knows when we're getting those officially released here, if ever. Considering Anthology's visual novel style gameplay, for that one it's likely never.

Still, it's one of my favorite game series out there and a great horror franchise worth looking into, if you don't mind waiting for the sequels.

Oh and uh... It would also be nice if the manga got translated. Officially. So I could buy them.

It's a niché horror franchise that's slowly getting recognition in the West, mainly due to big players like Pewdiepie having made videos of them. I've Let's Played both the PSP remake and the fan remake on my own YouTube channel.

I guess you could say it's currently a cult hit, if anything.

I've been meaning to check out the PSP iterations, but I've been holding out for a Vita game. I played the Japanese demo of one on my PSP a few years back and I enjoyed it, but couldn't really keep up with it since it's very dialogue-based and i didn't understand any of the Japanese.

I would seriously suggest you play through the first two PSP games first. The one that's coming for Vita is a direct continuation of those two. You'd be losing a lot of story there.

If you are interested, the translated fan remake of the original can be downloaded for free here: http://www.memoriesoffear.com/games_corpsepartypc98/index.html

The PSP remake added soooo much story after that, though, so I would still suggest checking that one out. It's basically a completely different game with a ton more characters.

If they're important to the story, I'll probably just get them from the PS Store. My gf wants them too, so I would probably end up getting them anyways. I'll wait to get more details about XSEED's localization for the Vita though.

XSEED has registered the domain for the game so it's pretty much a given Blood Drive will be getting a Western release soon enough. http://www.relyonhorror.com/latest-news/xseed-registers-corpse-party-blood-drive-domain/

But yes, the games are pretty much just one long continuity seperated into multiple games, so playing Blood Covered and Book of Shadows is imperative if you want to know what's going on in the story.
